It’s hard to imagine so much could be packed into one tiny island. Aside from beautiful beaches, our coral island offers deep sea caves, complete with shipwrecks; rolling and rugged hills; tropical forests, flowers, birds and animals; as well as sugar cane plantations and rum distilleries. All this, on an island that measures just 34 km. (21 miles) x 23 km. (14 miles) - an area only slightly smaller than Washington, D.C.!
As for our weather, it ranges from a comfortable 21˚ to 30˚ C (mid-70s to mid-80s F), tempered by almost constant sea breezes all year round. Best of all, Barbados is out of the path of most major hurricanes. In fact, we’ve only had twelve since 1780, the last one being in 1995. |
